About US
Northumberland is a Canadiana/Americana, Roots Rock band that hails from the east coast of Canada in the province of Nova Scotia. The band consists of Corey Matheson (Guitars, Vocals), David Dean (Guitars, Vocals), Bruce White (Bass, Vocals) and Jim Fulmore (Drums).
Although they formed in 2021, they have many years of playing experience amongst them. Dave and Corey formed their first band together in junior high while at that same time Bruce was their music teacher. He would play the Beatles, the Allman Brothers and many other classic albums in class and discuss their music, this was a big influence on Corey and Dave.
A few years later Corey formed the Alternative rock band Haggis. He then moved to Toronto and joined the Alt Country band Driveway in 2001. Bruce and Dave continued to perform in various bands within Nova Scotia. In 2012 Corey moved back to Truro, Nova Scotia and started to get back into the local scene.
It was in 2017 after the untimely passing of Tom Petty that Bruce and Corey along with Jim and others became part of a Tom Petty tribute act. The band played a number of shows and were attracting a huge following when the pandemic hit, this brought live shows to a halt. Corey, looking for something to help pass the time started to write again. He released a solo record under the moniker Gus Corey in late 2020. When the band got back together to rehearse they decided to shift the focus to original material.
It was then decided to bring in another guitar player and Dave was called. the full length self titled album will be released on June 2nd with a single coming out on May 5th. You can stay in the loop by signing up to the mailing list and following the band on social media.
